The 29th Annual Finger Lakes GrassRoots Festival of Music & Dance will take place Thursday, July 18th - Sunday, July 21st at the Trumansburg Fairgrounds in Trumansburg, NY. Featuring over 70 carefully curated bands on 4 Stages over 4 Days - our festival is designed to dazzle you with diversity rather than wow you with big names. Sure, we have our fair share of “headlining” acts, but it’s the bands you have never heard that may impress you the most.
“The Finger Lakes GrassRoots Festival of Music and Dance was recently named one of USA Today’s top 10 outdoor music festivals – and for good reason. A veritable right-of-passage for any self-described music lover…”

We are excited to announce our 2019 Finger Lakes GrassRoots Festival of Music & Dance Lineup, which includes the Grammy-winning island-infused-blues stylings of Taj Mahal Quartet, the improvisational Americana, country, bluegrass and rock & roll of Railroad Earth, the harmonious-soulful-folk of activists and songstresses Rising Appalachia, the traditionally-rooted folk of ramblin’ man and storyteller Willie Watson, and the cajun-flavored-country-folk-rock of Donna the Buffalo!
As you can see, our headliners are about as “GrassRoots” as it gets, since each has their musical roots planted firmly in traditional forms of American music. We also are pleased to bring you sounds that represent the culture and heritage of other areas of the world, like BKO from Mali, Garifuna Collective from Belize, and the Cuban sounds of Miami based Cortadito.whose roots stretch across oceans.
Our programming goes far beyond the stages. Talking heads remastered rar. It also starts before the festival. The Finger Lakes GrassRoots Festival of Music & Dance “Culture Camp” runs from July 14-17, and features four days of instrument, dance, and movement workshops, with nightly themed dinners and dances! Tickets and more info on Culture Camp available HERE.
Once the festival officially begins on July 18, activities away from the stages include camping, local food and craft, vendors, children's activities, daily yoga, healing arts and instrument workshops, visual arts exhibits, and so much more.
The GrassRoots Festival is proud to be an event that the whole family can enjoy. We strive to create a relaxed, family-friendly environment and have a fun-filled kids' activities area in a central location. We welcome children of all ages, and children 12 & under even attend free. In the Kids Area, children can make crafts, enjoy performances and play games.
Our intimate GrassRoots Workshop & Movement Tent is located in the shade near the Healing Arts Area. Classes range from African dance classes to yoga, from percussion and singing workshops to Indigenous teachings. Our workshops allow you to broaden your festival experience by gaining knowledge from the festival's amazing musicians, performers, teachers, and local community members.
“While GrassRoots can be lots of things to various people — a family vacation, a kids’ playground, a non-stop dance party, a carnival-like campground, and more — it’s still mostly about the music…”

Shakori Hills Spring 2019
Fabfilter total bundle mac crack. This Thursday, May 2, the annual Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival is kicking off another weekend of music, dance, art and fun in Pittsboro!
The storied festival is a local fixture with deep roots in the community, and the 2019 iteration of GrassRoots is shaping up to be more of the celebration that defines the spring and autumn seasons. Starting Thursday with an opening ceremony followed by a unique Afro-Haitian dance workshop and ending with late performances from Donna the Buffalo – a Grassroots staple – and Otto Von Schirach, among others, the festival will continue through the weekend bringing music and art to life.
Catering to all ages, the GrassRoots Festival Kids Tent will host hands-on art projects, special performances, group activites, storytelling, face-painting and more. Families that would like to camp together can choose to settle in the Quiet Camping zone away from the late-night hangouts and jam sessions that Grassroots is known for.
